On Monday, March 3, 2025, Hon. Williams Okofo-Darteh and Hon. Philip Oppong Amponsah officially took office as the Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer respectively of the Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation (GIISDEC).
At the ceremony was the former CEO – Mr. Kwabena Bonsu Fordwor to officially hand over to the new CEO.

The brief but significant handing-over ceremony which took place at the GIISDEC head office was attended by some distinguished guests – including:

• Hon. Vincent Oppong Asamoah (MP for Dormaa West Constituency)
• Hon. Yaw Ahenkwa (MP for Jaman North Constituency)
• Hon. Ramzy Adama Suleman (MP for Tain Constituency)
• Hon. Fred Agbenyo (MP for Guan Constituency)
• Hon. Kofi Arko Nokoe (MP for Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira Constituency)
• Hon. Yao Gomado (MP for Akan Constituency)
• Togbega Gabusu VII (Paramount Chief of Gbi Traditional Area)
• Nana Kwabena Ansah (Chief of Asato )
• Professor Christian Anthony-Krueger (Abususpanyin of Asato)

In his inaugural address, Hon. Okofo-Darteh expressed his enthusiasm for leading the GIISDEC team and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the corporation’s vision. He emphasized the importance of collaboration and urged staff members to work together in positioning GIISDEC as a leading institution in Ghana’s iron and steel industry.

The dignitaries shared congratulatory messages, encouraging GIISDEC staff to work in unity with the new CEO to drive the corporation’s mission forward.

Hon. Okofo-Darteh’s appointment marks a new chapter for GIISDEC, with a renewed focus on operational excellence and industry leadership.
