The Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation (GIISDEC) is making significant strides in the development of the Sheini Iron Ore Project, a key initiative aimed at strengthening Ghana’s iron and steel industry.

As part of efforts to ensure efficiency and progress, GIISDEC’s CEO, Hon. Williams Okofo-Dateh, recently met with Mr. Emmanuel Ababio, CEO of Emmaland Resources Ghana Limited, to assess the project’s status and discuss the way forward.
Located in the Tatale-Sanguli District near the Togo border, the Sheini Iron Ore Project is a crucial component of Ghana’s industrialization drive. It operates as a public-private partnership, with Emmaland Resources Ghana Limited leading operations under GIISDEC’s supervision.

Discussions at the meeting centered on the upcoming groundbreaking activities, with Emmaland Resources confirming plans to commence large-scale work in May. Mr. Ababio outlined the progress achieved so far and presented a strategic roadmap for the project’s next phase.

With the president’s strong support for the iron and steel sector, the Sheini Iron Ore Project is poised to create jobs, stimulate industrial growth, and significantly contribute to Ghana’s economic transformation. GIISDEC remains focused on driving responsible and sustainable resource development to unlock the full potential of Ghana’s iron and steel industry.
